We're back again for another great podcasting session. This video was pretty easy to shoot and edit. The only bad part being that I was sick when I shot some of it. I noticed also while editing that the lighting for my new footage was somewhat bad, I should have opened some windows to let a little sun in. Aside from that I didn't have to do much editing since I got most of the stuff done in a one take. The problem with this editing session was that I had too much footage and had to cut out some parts that I did want in it. Anyways I guess that is a good problem to have when you are making a video.
So here is podcast #3, enjoy.

Deidra,
I love how your continuing Masterpiece Theatre theme, I think it works well. I like the transitions you used, however some of the stills they create while transitioning look awkward, especially when doing the Masterpiece skit. I almost think straight jump cuts might be better, I know Ed said to avoid them; but that's just my opinion. Your podcast was very informative, but the audio seemed a little low to me. You could try a lapel mic to help with this. Another thing I noticed was your lighting: while you were doing the Masterpiece Theatre skit, your lighting seemed good - looked light window lighting, but once you went to facing the camera and talking about copyright, etc., the lighting seemed off. It might have been that white balance was off. If you do use window lighting be aware of clouds/overcast that can change the light coming through the window. Also, towards the end when you were talking about the "Landlord" skit on funnyordie.com you seemed to cut off part of your audio, I don't know if this was intentional or not. Overall, I thought it was a good podcast and I learned a lot more about the copyright issues with YouTube and it was interesting to hear about how much of an issue was made about the "Landlord." Nice job and I look forward to hearing about your final paper.
YouTube has dealt with some of these issues by limiting the length of files that can be uploaded. You might include some additional text to emphasize specific points. Are you using the camera mic? There seems to be some background noise, perhaps from the camera. A lapel mic might also get rid of the traffic noise that crops up at the end. You’ve got a couple of jump cuts that you need to cover. One option might be an opportunity to use some slides. The ending feels a bit abrupt, thought that probably has something to do with trying to keep the video under 10 minutes. Nice intro by the way.
I liked this one more than the last one. There were a few things that were jarring. The jump cuts with transitions seemed to throw off the flow of the speech patterns. I think your accent is getting better, or at the very least, funnier. I enjoyed the topics you discussed. It was very informative and I liked that you cited examples that we probably had all heard about. It helped me think outside the box about it. I didn't think the lighting was bad. And I look forward to the last podcast!
Deidra, good third podcast. I liked the continuation of the masterpiece theater theme also. I agree that the lighting good have been brighter but that was not so much of a problem. Very informative podcast though. Some of the transitions were rough but as I think Rob mentioned you could use jump cuts or fade in/out transitions fairly quickly without any blurring. I look forward to your next podcast about your final paper.
